Acumen Community Enterprise Development Trust launch their new ‘Get Ahead’ project as a result of grant funding from People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Local residents who want to ‘Get Ahead’ and back into employment now have access to support from a qualified and experienced Employment Adviser through their funded ‘Drop-in’ service. The drop-in service will support individuals with searching and applying for jobs, interview techniques, benefit advice, better-off calculations and access to internet and IT facilities.
Pat Thoms, CEO said ‘We are delighted to be able to offer this service in East Durham, since we launched the project on 1st February we’ve already supported 2 local residents to secure employment, it’s already making a positive impact on our community’.
Kirsty, a local resident who has already accessed support through the drop-in service said ‘The service is an outstanding platform to help people like myself back into employment.’
The drop-in service is available Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday mornings between 9.30am – 12.30pm at their office in Sunderland Road, Horden and from their office in Church Street, Seaham on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9.30am – 12.30pm.
